Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science

Course Structure

This programme is a final year top up programme consists of four specialisations namely Software Development, Multimedia, Web Development and Networking & Security with 120 credits. The programme has a four core modules totalling 60 credits, two specialisation modules constituting 30 credits and the individual research project constituting the balance 30 credits out of 120 credits.

Entry Requirement

Top-up Final Year (Year 3) B. Sc (Honours) Computer Science (Software Development) / Computer Science (Multimedia) / Computer Science (Networking & Security) / Computer Science (Web Development)

A.   Diploma Higher Diploma / Advanced Diploma in any Computing discipline awarded by a recognised local institution or a foreign university approved by the WEC Admissions Panel.,or

B.     Presentation of evidence of equivalent achievement., or

C.    Diploma  applicants who do not meet the APL requirements for direct entry into the final year will undertake part or the full Phase 1 programme prior to being admitted into Phase 2 of the Programme.

D.    Applicants whose first language is not English will be expected to provide evidence of competence in spoken and written English, as well as evidence of appropriate reading and listening skills. Applicants whose qualifications are conducted and examined in the English medium of instruction is deemed to have the required English Language proficiency and not required to provide other English proficiency tests to be consider for admission into the programme.

E.      Applicants whose qualification is conducted in another language other than the English Language will be required to demonstrate English Language proficiency through a number of establish certification such as an I.E.L.T.S. overall score of 6.5, TOFEL score of  550 (paper base or its computer base equivalent score or other equivalent including a face to face oral interview conducted by the Programme coordinator.

  • Information Systems and Project Management, System analysis & Design Methodologies, Java Script Programming and Distributed Multimedia Programming constitutes 100% of Course Work / Assignment.
  • Except the above four modules all the other modules the Assessment constitutes 50% Course Work / Assignment and 50% Final Examination).
  • For Research Project the assessment is based on 100% Course Work.
